Prior Biloxi, MS. Mayor Pete Halat  from prison. Halat served 15 years in prison for participating in a conspiracy that led to the murders of  husband and wife Vincent and Margaret Sherry in 1987.

Halat blamed his former law partner, Vincent Sherry, for taking money from a prision ran scam.  Sherry was a circuit court judge when a hitman gunned down him and his wife, Margaret Sherry. former Councilwoman.

Testimony and evidence presented in federal court indicated that an inmate at Louisiana State Prison had ordered the murders of the prominent Biloxians after he discovered money missing from a trust account Halat managed while he was an attorney.                     More on this @ www.slabbed.org


A BP OIL SPILL UPDATE: Robert Kaluza, a BP well site leader from the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion arrives at Federal Court to be arraigned on manslaughter charges in New Orleanson Wednesday.

BP rig supervisors and a former BP executive pleaded not guilty to criminal charges connected the deadly Deepwater Horizon rig explosion and the company’s response to the massive 2010 spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP well site leaders Robert Kaluza and Donald Vidrine, along with former BP vice president of exploration for the Gulf David Rainey, remained free on bond following their arraignments in federal court.

WLBT of Jackson MS. is reporting: If I had a hammer!

Hinds County Sheriff’s Office officials say Bennie Davis, 57, and his son-in-law Zachary Ragusa, 24, were working in their yard on Highway 18 in Utica when Jerome Freeman, 49, asked to borrow a hammer. Freeman, 49, was working at a construction site across from the residence.

Ragusa reportedly handed Freeman the hammer, and then Freeman hit Ragusa in the head and all over his body with it according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s officials say Davis then got a handgun and fired rounds over Freeman’s head warning him to stop. When Freeman didn’t stop, Davis fired at Freeman and Ragusa.

Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene. Ragusa was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition. No arrest has been made. The case will be sent to the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office for Grand Jury review.
